The Primary Trail NetworkA NEST Workshop

Want a route from your neighborhood down to Lake Washington? Trying to find a good way to get from Lake City to Green Lake? We have a guide for your North East Seattle wayfinding needs.

After a spring and summer of community meetings, workshops, walks, and field surveys, the NEST Steering Committee has prepared and approved a primary trail network that spans the greater North East quadrant of Seattle.

This primary trail network is presented on a Neighborhoods on Foot map. Additional trail information that was gathered during the process will be developed into an online mapping tool.

Online NEST Map

As we were gathering data and talking with people about where they walk we developed far more information than can fit on a single map. This information will be developed into an online mapping tool help people find the walking route that fits their needs.

The online map will include scenic walks, neighborhood recreational walks, sidewalk-only walks, historic loops, etc. These might not be the fastest way from point A to point B, but they are wonderful routes developed from years of walking experience.

This section of the project will begin late 2009.

Online Survey

We are still gathering feedback through the NEST online survey. If you have not yet completed the survey, please take 15 minutes to complete it. You can view the survey here.
