Feet First Comics Home
Credits
“Feet First Comics” was proposed, scripted, illustrated, photographed and annotated by Leonard Rifas (me.) This comic’s original intention was to encourage people to choose the best mode of travel available for each trip rather than habitually jumping into a car for every errand. As I worked on it, I came to understand more clearly that the key decisions for reducing wasteful car trips don’t happen when we decide how to get from our door to the store, but when we choose where to live.

This has been the first comic that I have designed for distribution over the web. My earlier educational comics, in printed format, have included AIDS News, published by People of Color Against AIDS Network, Tobacco Comics, published by WashDOC, itchy PLANET, published by Fantagraphics, Food First Comics, published by the Institute for Food and Development Policy (Food First), and various other titles.

I am grateful to reviewers knowledgeable about Puget Sound transportation issues, whose editorial advice has improved this web-comic.

I am also very grateful to “Team Y” at Kimberlee Jensen’s Web Design course at Seattle Central Community College, for creating the website design, logo and code:

Dennis Montgomery
Glenn Bradley
Hewan Gebremichael
Jae Min Kim

Warm thanks go to David Levinger, Tom Bertulis, David Ward, Joyce Farmer, Leigh Sims, Bert Rifas, Randy Robinson, and Diane Wasson. Deepest thanks, again, go to Mizue Fujinuma.

To send advice for improving the usefulness and accuracy of the information in this web-comic or to ask about adapting this comic for your area or commissioning your own educational comic, I invite you to write to me. Thanks for reading all this fine print.

Yours for fun and action,

Leonard Rifas
