Art in the Alley!
Art walk in the Alley. Marimba Music, Mosaic Art Installation, by the Vashon Tile Guild, Beverages, Summer Breezes with lots of interesting people.
On Thursday July 2nd, over 100 people gathered in the alley behind the Feet First office in Pioneer Square next to Occidental Park. "Art in the Alley" party gave people an opportunity to have fun in the artistic atmosphere under the evening sun and summer breeze. The event also provided information about Feet First activities including PARK(ing) Day. At the event, there were lots of interesting people and artisans such as Marimba Music by the group in Rainier Valley and a Mosaic Art Instillation by the Vashon Tile Guild. Additionally, the dance stage was set up just across the street in Occidental Park.
Feet First introduced PARK(ing) Day in the event. PARK(ing) Day is an international day started in San Francisco in 2005 by the REBAR arts collective to reclaim vehicle PARK(ing) spaces as park spaces. Feet First plays an active role in organizing community groups, organizations, and individuals to put together their own PARK(ing) Day. We are expanding our reach to increase the number for PARK(ing) Day spaces in 2009, on Friday, September 18th.
The "Art in the Alley" party highlighted people giving from their heart, which was demonstrated by the sharing of music, art, beverages and food. I even gave a little money to support the silk screening of the Feet First T-shirt. I hope everybody who was there had a fun time.
