Crossing Guards and the West Seattle Blog

The West Seattle Blog takes a look at 34th and Morgan

On January 17th, Feet First's Safe Routes to School Crew (Jen Cole, SRtS Director and Ellie Taylor, SRtS Community Organizer) headed out to West Seattle to talk with the West Seattle Blog, community activist Miranda Taylor, and Crossing guard Lea Mortenson.

As children are walking to school in Seattle, there are around 70 locations where crossing guards should be. Only 40 of them are staffed. These places are some of the busiest and most dangerous for children to cross by themselves. The West Seattle Blog talks about these and other issues around this city-funded program.

Feet First will be tracking the issue throughout 2008, since funding for this program ends when the Families and Children Levy ends (later this year!).
