Over 130 People Attend Transportation Lobby Day
Transportation Lobby Day 2007: Solutions for Healthy Communities
Our 2007 Transportation Lobby Day was a huge success, drawing more people than ever down to Olympia to meet with their legislators.
One of the highlights was testifying during a Transportation Committee hearing for House Bill 1588, a bill supporting Mobility Education. Feet First has worked hard on advancing the idea of Mobility Education and seeing it through to the Washington State legislature.
** Mobility Education. Teaching our children about all modes of transportation will provide them with invaluable, life-long lessons in safety and mobility.
** Carbon Assessments. With the increasing threat of global warming, it's time to set and implement statewide goals for reducing our carbon emissions.
** Revising State Transportation Goals. In a state whose economy and population are on the rise, we need to focus on moving people and goods more efficiently, not just getting cars from Point A to Point B.
** Additional Revenue and Policy Changes for Local Bike Lanes, Sidewalks, and Transit. Let's give our local jurisdictions the tools and freedom they need to provide the transportation service levels that citizens want!
Thanks to all who participated this year!
