Pike Place Market Named A Great Neighborhood In America

The American Planners Association names Seattle's Pike Place Market as one of the Great Places in America.

October, 2007

For the first time ever, the American Planning Association designated 20 Great Places in America: 10 Great Streets and 10 Great Neighborhoods. Seattle's Pike Place Market was recognized among the Great Neighborhoods. These places were chosen by characteristics including good design, functionality, sustainability, and community involvement.

Residents of Seattle know well that Pike Place Market is a vibrant neighborhood where commerce, recreation, and housing blend together in a walkable public space. Recognizing it for its success as a livable neighborhood reaffirms to other parts of Seattle and the nation the quality of a lively and walkable space.
