Pedestrian Master Plan

2007 Seattle Pedestrian Master Plan progress

This page will be updated periodically with information about Seattle's Pedestrian Master Plan Process.

Seattle has launched a process to develop a Pedestrian Master Plan.  The process is a chance to set in place information, practices and design guidelines that can make the city a premier Walkable City.

Funding for the plan and implementation was included in the November 2006 measure "Bridging the Gap" (Proposition 1, passed).  Seattle City Council has named pedestrian safety as its #1 priority for 2007, and they are actively involved.  On February 5, 2007, City Council passed a resolution (30951) that lists requirements for the plan, establishes an advisory committee, and calls for several elements to be included in the planning process.  They call for an education and enforcement campaign to be coordinated by the Seattle Department of Transportation, Seattle Police and Seattle Pedestrian Advisory Board.

Feet First will be mobilizing its members, the broader public, and providing our expertise in building walkable communities.

Both Rebecca Deehr (Feet First Interim Executive Director), and Charles Redmond (Feet First board member) are on the city-appointed Pedestrian Master Plan Advisory Committee.
